PRODUCTION

CULTIVATION WITHOUT HERBICIDES, MATURATION IN WOODEN BARRELS

The TERRA VITA natural wine comes from the vineyards around Haugsdorf in the Pulkau Valley (picture above). It thus grows in Austria's largest wine-growing region, the Weinviertel in Lower Austria.

Bringing out the special characteristics of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape in TERRA VITA takes a great deal of time, patience and experience during production. In the vineyard terraces, ideally laid out facing south, herbicides are avoided as a matter of principle – an important aspect of an authentic natural wine.

The hand-picked grapes are harvested only when fully ripe and then undergo maceration for several weeks. This allows health-promoting compounds such as polyphenols and flavonoids to be extracted in large quantities from the seeds and skins, ensuring they are present in the wine. Finally, the wine is aged in wooden barrels, allowing its flavour and nutrients to develop perfectly. Incidentally, TERRA VITA is a vegan wine!
